Management vs line level professionals

I am recruiting for a Fire Safety Director for Mount Sinai. I have also been asked to find coders(the folks that figure out the insurance ) It is much easier to find senior people. The operator or area just gves out the names. To find coders (or programmers in my previous life) takes an inrodinate amout of digging. Senior people are also much more receptive and frequently give out refferals. If a line level professional is not looking many times(but not all) you get attitude.

Just my 2… Continue

8 Cool Ways to Engage Your Hiring Managers and Hire More “A-level” Talent

8 Cool Ways to Engage Your Hiring Managers and Hire More “A-level” Talent

by Lou AdlerMay 29, 2009, 6:01 am ET

If it wasn’t for hiring managers, recruiting would be so easy. But, alas, this is not to be. Instead, we can either confront them head on, or put our heads down in despair, and find still other perfectly qualified candidates they still won’t like. Unfortunately, too many recruiters fall into this endless productivity-draining black hole, and wonder why the latest new sourcing… Continue

Back to the Future: January 2010

by Lou AdlerMay 15, 2009, 7:00 am ET

Fast forward to January 15, 2010. What are some of the hiring challenges you’re now facing?

Job losses continued through October 2009, but at a declining rate, with job gains finally turning positive in November 2009, at around 20,000 or so.

The unemployment rate… Continue

Any comments? Or should I not be asking these questions?

For those of you who work in agencies and are placing contractors I have some questions for you.

What are agencies getting for Markups on Contractors these days, Percentage?

How many of you are offering benefits on W-2 contractors? If so, what are you offering?

How many do not offer benefits on W-2 contractors?

How many of you are placing 1099's, and how often?

What is the average number of contractors a Recruiter should have on assignment,… Continue

I really love the crew at rbc.

I used to love hanging out at the site.

Then chat failed, then the format changed, then chat changed again, then the talent talks got canceled, and now I can't find my way around.

Please remember that too much change is not always a good thing. Some of us need a little stability. And I need SEARCH BOX ON THE MAIN PAGE!

Negotiating The Deal

If everyone liked to negotiate. the world would be full of lawyers. However, nobody wants to feel like they are being taken advantage of. Set a reasonable goal for yourself when negotiating for a new job or even a raise or promotion at your current job. Decide what would really make you happy, and think what you could settle for and still be satisfied. Put yourself in the shoes of the company making the offer and develop a realistic worth of your… Continue
