Hello Everyone
I wanted to send an email out to everyone and I appreciate all of your kind regards over the past months. As some of you know The Brand Management Group suffered a fatal blow with the US Recession and the sudden demise of the TV program in part. Since December when we shut down things have been idle at best and Helpwantedhawaii.info is still going strong and was recently rated a growing blog from Wordpress. Actually it is a large online job board I created over a year…

Urban Dictionary: A Froleague is a co-worker and part of your Facebook network. A Frupervisor is your Supervisor at work and on your Facebook.
Here is a story. The names have been changed to protect the innocent….and guilty.
It was Monday morning when Bob got the call. “He lost his teeth and his arm was broken” said his girlfriend. Her boyfriend, Larry, was in a horrific auto accident.
Bob tried to send flowers to Larry at the hospital but they didn’t have a…

Honesty is the best policy.
Certainly a phrase we've all heard, and likely one of life's first big lessons imparted on all of us. Why, then, do we have the temptation to keep information to ourselves or tell half-truths? Do we really think we are getting ahead? Will this sneaky tactic truly pay off in the long run? Considering that the majority of my career is ahead of me I won't make any claims to be the foremost authority on the subject, but some of the most honest and forthright…

I have written a couple of posts related to gender and leadership recently (Jan 29th and February 12th). I find myself drawn back to the same topic today. There are several ideas or themes that bring me back:
* I believe very strongly that we suffer from a critical absence of real leadership today. Our current situation is framed as an economic / financial crisis, but I believe it is actually a crisis of leadership. And I have come to…

My hat's off to Dan for inspiring this post. After reading his I began thinking about why it is that I blog here.
I think what it boils down to is my desire to continue learning and expanding my knowledge not only of my profession, but the world around me. That may not sound like it has much to do with me writing blog posts, but bear with me. I think that knowledge and learning are paramount to success. Anybody who tells me they are pondering whether to go straight through grad…

My how times are changing... you might have heard that
UBS has agreed to pay $780 million in fines as part of an IRS investigation into the hiding of money offshore to evade taxes.
What rankles me is the suspicion that from late 2002 to 2007, UBS helped wealthy American clients illegally hide $20 billion, evading $300 million a year in taxes. Math time!
That would be… Continue

In the past 2 weeks, new lessons emerged which show me that I am the sum of my effort, and the outcome of my own inward passion.
In the short space of 2 weeks I have learned a great deal from others, as many good folks reach out to make this young upstart a better man.
Service to others, my family, coworkers, friends, associates, and others is so vital.
How can I lift up others if I find myself worried about circumstances I cannot control? The lesson of these 2…

By Richard Becker,
Copywrite, Ink.
Almost one year ago, two companies set out to differentiate themselves from other job search sites within the same niche: TheLadders and RiseSmart. Each wanted to dominate a subscription-based job site niche that focuses on jobs starting at $100k.
However, with the economic downturn, pursuing qualified employers or qualified candidates in a race toward a shrinking middle seemed increasingly…

Just a forewarning: I am about to ramble. I realize how important social networking is, whether you are looking for candidates, looking for job leads, or looking for a job yourself. It's important to build up your network, whether the need is immediate or not, so that when you have a fit of skill to job description--BOOM. You're a leg up on the competition.
However...building a social network is nervewrecking. Maybe it goes back to me being a social outcast most of my life but…

Babies use it all the time, you used it all the time growing up, and now you think it will not work for you because you are an adult?
The Law of Attraction (LOA) has been around for eternity and will continue to be here until the end of all energy.
Whether you believe it or not, it’s working in your life right now.
Now, in it’s most simplest form, the LOA works like…

When it comes to
candidate preparation, there seems to be two major schools of thought. On one side, there is the school of recruiters who believe strongly in the benefits of preparing candidates before send outs. These staffing professionals believe it's their responsibility to provide a good candidate prep to help close hiring gaps and assist hiring managers with weak interview skills. On the other hand, other recruiters feel coaching their candidates before an interview interferes…
