“You Don’t Speak For Me” – A College Student’s Thoughts on Donglegate

My kid is home from college for spring break. It’s been an awesome week - when she’s not sleeping she’s actually hanging out with me. Inevitably the conversation turns to work stuff – recruiting for me, school work for her, and what the future holds now that’s she’s a grown up (sort of). I asked her what she thought of Donglegate. Ok, maybe not the best intro, she looked both confused and disturbed until I explained. For those that missed it, two guys at a tech conference made a bad joke and…

How a Comments/Chat Section Makes Your "Recruiting SEO" Explode

Ongig believes that one day all job pages will have live interactivity such as a comments/chat feature.

First off, it’s a great experience for the candidate — they get their questions answered (questions that often aren’t answered in a standard job posting).

Frustration...

So in the course of any one day I get a stack of emails from people that seemingly have no idea how/why to apply for a role in the creative industry.

Normally it’s cool, I’m polite and reply with a, “thanks but no thanks…” sort of thing, trying to offer a piece of advice where and when I can. But occasionally, towards the end of a long day, I don’t. And I write something like this:

“Dear *****…

IT and Motorcycles

Both are very loud - literally and figuratively. They can be driven by inspiration, ego or yearn for recognition. The mechanics of both may be complicated and only those dedicated to the early struggle, can appreciate the current boldness and the excitement of what the future may bring to the table.

I’ve never owned a Harley, but none of us can say the same for technology. I am a baby boomer and grew up on the cusp of the technology era when Programmers and Developers suffered the…

‘Every day you hire someone, it could be your next CEO !’

Talent means the skill that is within someone quite naturally – to do something that is hard. At the same time, someone who has the ‘talent’ is able to do something without trying hard. It is an ability that someone is born with. It is a high degree of ability or of aptitude. Someone who has talent is referred to as talented: For eg., Sachin Tendulkar has a talent for playing cricket. In such cases, we say that he or she is ‘born with a talent’.

Talent acquisition is…
