JobTarget Pics

Ethan Bloomfield from JobTarget.com had by far the best booth at the ERE show in DC for many reasons. Not only that, they were handing cameras out to everyone to take pictures of whatever they wanted. Then the cameras were returned and all of a sudden, JobTarget was the proud owner of hundreds and hundreds of pictures from the show. The results can be found at… Continue

I have tried to keep an open mind about services where users buy and sell personal contact information. My default position is that personal relationships are priceless, and if you try to sell them you're asking for big…

U.S. Median Voluntary Turnover Rate: 11 percent

Watson Wyatt, an international association of human resource professionals, released a study today that may send shivers down the spines of management: a large majority of companies in the United States and around the world are struggling to attract and retain top-performing and critical-skill workers.

The study, which included 946 companies and a complementary survey of 13,000 employees, found that the United States has the highest median voluntary turnover rate, at 11 percent,… Continue

Why I am not a Republican

The Republican Party never felt right even when I was 10 (about the time I decided on what I was). I would rate my ethics high, which means I could not be a part of anything that took from others, destroyed land or resources for my own profit, and put myself above anything or anyone else. I try not to destroy other living things because they are not convenient to me. I believe that everything has intrinsic value (I do draw the line at certain vermin and noxious weeds). Maybe because of these…

Charity Poker Event A Success!

Last week was the ERE conference in Washington DC. It was a real success and people had fun. One of the things that has become a regular occurrence is the charity poker event. Over 10K was raised for the ERE

Foundation and I am honored to have been a part of it.

Hats off to Dave Manaster who every single time we do this, pays for the…

The ERE Expo Fall 2007 Conference

I thought I would write a series of posts on the ERE Expo that concluded on October 19, 2007. I must say, this was one of the most informative conferences I have been to in a long time. To me the tone and the information was geared towards taking recruitment to the next level and what does it mean to really support the business.

Day One at ERE Expo DC 2007

I’m here at the ERE conference in DC and so far it seems the

oil is flowing and everything is running smooth. It seems at least to me that

Dave Manaster has a little black book but instead of phone numbers, it is

filled with the recipe for a smooth running conference. Everything here is

good. I have not seen the book but I am sure it exists.

Over the last many years, I have developed a real…

The Candidate Experience

We discuss "the candidate experience" daily. I would even venture to say approximately every other minute. That's because it is a part of every consideration here. It justifies our strategies and therefore, our clients' actions. After all, a company is defined by their talent. Interestingly enough, I came

across a great post recently on making good first…

Advice to a TPR: How to Manage Your Clients

Having crossed over enemy lines, I see both sides of the recruiting game with much more clarity than before. I liken it to being in a smoke-filled room, with a strobe light and all the sudden, the house lights come on and everything looks much different than before. All the strange and wonderful people that were on the dance floor suddenly become much more average. The atmosphere has changed from one of mystery and darkness to one of clear light and reality.

In my previous life as a…

I'm coming to San Francisco!!!!

I am going to be heading out to San Francisco from October 27th to the 30th to attend VisiblePath’s Corporate Social Network Design Council on Monday the 29th. The obvious purpose of this gathering is how to apply social networks in the enterprise world. Not only am I planning on learning a TON, but I also get to hang out with my dear friend, Ms. Suzy Tonini! She alerted me to this gathering and it is a bonus that I get to see her as well.… Continue
