A certain company located in a rural part of Georgia was looking for a senior manager for their call center. The job had been open for nearly a year and the interview process proved to be a revolving door -it seemed no one was 'just right.' This is a cautionary tale of what happens when you fail to qualify a company and their requirement. . You're only as good as the companies you represent, someone once…

1) Stop returning emails and phone calls
2) Send a letter stating that effective on this date (date dependent on contract and of course all your contracts say you may terminate with 30 days written notice) you are terminating the agreement
3) Depending on how much you need the business (hate client need revenue) offer to continue relationship at double the fee

It’s estimated there are 6 job seekers for every job opening in the market today. That’s not very good odds. However, any one can cut those odds in half instantly, simply write a decent resume!
I realize that I have a resume writing 101 entry on our site already, but in my mind I can’t tell people enough how important it is to write a clean, interesting and job worthy resume!
There is a bit of competition out there right now; people are unemployed, or looking to… Continue

Where and how a recruiter spends their time is crucial to the success of their business. Too much time in the wrong area can dramatically decrease their billings. Unfortunately, time-wasting activities sneak up on you like a thief in the night. Before you know it, those activities you thought were harmless and helpful turn out to be destructive and detrimental.
Take, for example, website optimization.…

- To access a larger proportion of the candidate marketplace and tap into niche, sector or geographically specific talent pools. By using a search approach, a company can increase their chance of finding the right candidate. Some companies know well enough that they will have a small pool of candidates to choose from on certain roles, such as technical specialists. For example, a maritime engineer position with an EPCM is unlikely to…

If I claimed that my middle school basketball skills would qualify me enough to speak freely on the sport itself, then I would be sadly mistaken. So, as I cannot claim to be an expert or an avid sports fan, I must admit that I did not know about this “Letter to Cleveland Fans” prior to my coworker Mike sending it over to… Continue

In reality we do not really know what questions we will be asked at the interview, we can have a good educated guess by reading the essential skills need for the job role on
the job specification, as the employer is sure to ask questions around
these skills.
Prior to the interview process you will find yourself normally nervous, fidgety, dry-mouthed or sweaty but being nervous and anxious is not an abnormal thing. If you are…

After spending countless hours (maybe it even adds up to years now) in business meeting that talk about being strategic and being tactical and interchanging those terms and correlating them it seems that for many they have lost their true meaning and purpose. And then last night I was in a meeting that pointed out the true difference in these terms as never before. In the meeting was Director of Manufacturing, a Director of Supply Chain, a Sales Marketing Director and, interestingly…

Over the years I've experienced many companies who have successfully tapped into transitioning military talent pools.
Veterans need jobs and companies want to hire them. So what's the problem?
1) The language barrier:
Military occupations in many ways are similar to civilian jobs although civilians don't understand the military jargon and transitioning military unfortunately do not know how to…
