My original thought process when developing this seminar and webinar was to provide HR directors and business leaders with a blueprint to help them increase their hiring success, thereby elevating their employee retention and productivity, and reducing turnover costs. I am from a marketing background, and understand that much of the information and expertise provided by an employment advertising ageny or recruitment advertising agency, can be learned and developed internally by the in-house…

So when I first got started in the recruiting world, learning the difference between a corporate recruiter and a staffing recruiter confused me at first. Now for those of you in either one of these roles, you are probably thinking to yourself: How in the world can that be confusing?
Well here’s why. My trainer was a head hunter on Wall Street for 8 years. Though he did staffing for many years, he had recently turned into a corporate recruiter and was focused on learning that side of…

The
Recruiting Roadshow is an event masterminded by John Sumser. In 1995, John started his own company Interbiznet, where he wrote a daily column on using the internet and technology for recruiting. He wrote the first book describing the internet as a sourcing and recruiting tool in 1996.
The idea for the Recruiting Roadshow was brought on by the fact that recruiting can be vastly different from one metropolitan area to the next.…

Joe President (not his real name) sits stiffly across from me at a Starbucks sipping a latte. He hasn't been in this position very often. "Craig, I don't think my current company has my best interests in mind and I want to look for a new job. I don't really know where to start. I would look at any executive level position, even a step down. But I can't let my current company find out that I am looking!" This is paraphrased from a conversation I had with the President of a privately…

Ironically, I am looking for a junior sourcer and can't seem to find anyone with the skill set. Work location is NYC and skill set is 1-6 years of internet sourcing and name generation. I have been using the job boards and linkedin. Am I missing anything?

Been providing personality profiling systems for a few years now and I have finally decided that recruitment agencies need a whole new model.
The existing personality profiling tools out there are a one size fits nobody approach and they rarely meet the needs of recruitment consultants.
So for the last few months I have been talking to recruitment consultants and asking "what do you want?" It's been really eye opening as it doesn't just effect what the report should look…

To all the contractors making more money than there counterparts in permanent (FTE) positions congratulations, but unfortunately a trend that we’re seeing is people who take the inherent additional risk of contracting and unfortunately aren’t reaping the associated benefits.
Now benefits come in many forms and of course various people enjoy many different aspects of the contracting lifestyle (and it is a lifestyle choice) including having more control over projects and their career…

Hey recruiters,
I specialize in insurance, and we are humming along. If you have a pulse (and I'm assuming you have an internet connection since you can see this) you have seen/heard lots of doom & gloom talk out there. I live and specialize in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas area.
This is my best encouraging word for the industry. We are looking for insurance sales and service people alike. There is a lot of action in our immediate geographical area as well as nationwide. I guess…

HBCUConnect.com is bar none one of the best affinity sites on the web. I won't add any words of praise outside if you aren't associated with it, you aren't interested in diversity. And if your company isn't a sponsor, you're not spending your dollars wisely.
If you want a contact to discuss opportunities to support the site, contact me through RBC or just rummage around the site and contact Will (CEO) or…

This morning, I ran across a post about Jive Software's RIF. There was a lot of interesting information, so I blogged about it. You can read the
blog here. I'm really interested in what the Recruiter World thinks about this. Does your online behavior post-layoff affect you long term?

I realize one of the keys to life is to ignore the small stuff.....especially the stuff that has absolutely NOTHING to do with you......but I simply can not overlook this!
The sign in page on LinkedIn has the word "address" spelled incorrectly. They've left off the second "s".
There - so now you know.
