Use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques to better your communication
Key learnings:
NLP helps us make sense of how we do things and how we can implement change to make things better.
NLP helps us re-programme our internal processes by changing the way we think, behave and interact with others.
NLP is not about what to do. It is about how to work to make things better.
Neuro Linguistic Programming! The term sounds sophisticated,…

I am currently using DISC profiles as a tool in hiring sales and recruiters. I was wondering if anyone had other suggestions? Profile XT seems good, but pricey and takes an hour! Any suggestions?

I just had lunch the other day with a wonderfully talented VP of HR of a Fortune 1000 company whom I greatly admire. She asked me how I and my recruiter friends were faring in this economic slump.
Really, an economic slump or recession in my opinion is good for our business because it flushes out the wannabes and the job board surfers and those who just create alot of noise and useless calls to busy decisionmakers who need the help of those of us who are experienced no…

I met with a candidate this week - very nice fellow. Was engaging in the interview, able to articulate his background quite well, seemed to be someone that likes to go above and beyond, good image / body language / eye contact and just left me with an overall positive impression. We quizzed him about his education and he seemed offended that we'd have the audacity to ask a question about his educational credentials. That's where it all went south. It's right there on the paper - see - it says…

Many people ask me about business development techniques for sourcing. I tell them most BD techniques are pretty much the same - effective IF YOU USE THEM! This is one of the best ones you can employ - starting and cultivating discussions around subjects you know. This is one way to become recognized in our business and it's a good way to grow your business.
Don't…

I found this floating around....I hope you catch a Big One!
Is this your day for Fishing?
*******************************************************
One day a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach, with his fishing pole propped up in the sand and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf. He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish.
About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to…

The way that job boards display search results hasn’t changed much over the years. Traditionally vacancies have been listed in a rather flat textual manner, but that might be about to change.
The reason: we are beginning to see some new innovation

We recently commented on how information, through the various media outlets, can be reused and unfortunately create more misinformation in the process. However, I wanted to step back into the guts of that article to discuss one of the key points on relocation and compensation.
On many levels the article is spot on about making sure that the actual costs of the move are covered including not only the movement of household goods, but all of the other aspects that go along with turning…

I read a blog today that threw out the "BIG R" word - it posed the question "so, are we in a recession". So what do I think? Q1 certainly didn't set the world on fire for us. We're a contingency IT services firm in the midwest. We service a variety of industries but two of them are "early adoptors" of a recession (marketing agency & print/publishing). Both are struggling to hit numbers.
So, are we in a recession or not? I'll tell you at the end of Q2.
