Article Title: When I refer to references...
Author Byline: the medical sales recruiter
Author Website: http://www.phcconsulting.com/
References are so often an after thought, but they shouldn’t be. They should be on your mind (at least once a month). Even if you are not currently looking for a job. Let me explain. I will start with the negatives (those things you should pay attention to not do!).
1. Don’t give me (the recruiter) or your employer conquest a…

Rant of the day: Clowns and/or A**holes are self-appointing themselves as Mentors.?. !!!
Yes, yes, this is truly a growing problem . . . word on the street is that in the recruiting and business world, Clowns and/or A**holes (in the Bob Sutton sense) are appointing themselves as Mentors. I had to restate this as just saying it once doesn't let it sink in enough.

SparkNotes was also pretty big. While I’ve never been exactly sure
who “Cliff” is and why he felt he needed to create “Notes” for his classmates and students everywhere, but I thank him wholeheartedly for his efforts.
A few…

There are so many places now to set up networking that it is getting a bit overwhelming. Between the actual work of the day and famliy responsibilities I am finding that I do not have a lot of extra time to devote to the sites to keep up with it all. Cheers to time management!

Just posted on my blog about my new search for a Sourcer to add to my team - that begins today and that I expect to have complete and filled VERY quickly. I'm looking for any suggestions and thoughts on additional screening questions - and of course any recommendations for any hard working sourcers looking to speak to me would be great if they felt so inclined to use the contact page to reach me.

Hello Professional Recruiters on RecruitingBlogs.com!
I've been thinking recently about which ATS is better to use. There are so many of them on the Internet! It's hard to choose the one that will match our needs..
I am seeking for an ATS that:
1. Will allow us to keep our data in our server only
2. Will scan our disk looking for resumes in txt format, and import them into the ATS
3. Will be simple and intuitive to use
4. Will have a real person, tech…

i find it increasingly interesting that candidates will apply to a position and then never call the recruiter back. it seems to be happening more and more as the internet is now the majority of our recruitment efforts. i think it is because candidates can apply to so many jobs at once they don't know what jobs they are applying to. then, they get a call from the recruiter and think they are being recruited for a position that they don't want.
one of the ways i have dealt with this…

Blogs are great for airing dirty laundry especially if it’s the kind that has a familair odor to others. This particular situation is one I’m sure you can relate to.

I was watching the news last night and saw 800 people in line to apply for a serving position at a newly opened Olive Garden here in Cape Coral, FL. One woman said that she has been out of work since November 07. My wife was talking to an old friend that lives in the area and she said she's been searching for a job as well and cannot find anything or anyone that will hire her. She isn't searching for an Executive position either.
When will this joke economy turn upwards? I drive around…

There are many similarities and differences in the role of a recruiter when he/she is a corporate or he/she is a staffing firm recruiter.
I will discuss these over the next few days’ one blog entry at a time.
So to start here is something to consider.
1a. Corporate vs. Staffing--- Generally in a corporate role, the corporate recruiter is paid a salary but commission or bonus is much less than that for a staffing industry individual.
1b. Corporate vs.…
