I'm a smart Recruiter because...

What motivates me and makes me a smart Recruiter is that I consider it an honor to be a catalyst, facilitating the meeting of people who need each other, so that they can move forward together to accomplish their personal, professional and financial goals.

I am sincerely curious about people and they love that attention. I really do want to know who they are deeply and I give them the time and space to reveal themselves to me. This enables me to make strong matches. It creates trust… Continue

The Magic Triangle - Time, Cost, Quality

Every day I strive to educate my company about the Magic Triangle - Time - Cost - Quality. I am a Recruiting Manager for a small Government Contractor in the DC area and I have Program Managers call me on a Friday and want 3 Top Secret cleared Data Architects with 7 to 10 years experience screened, interviewed and closed by the following Monday (this is a real life experience). And oh by the way, did I mention that it was for a 6 month contract? And the salary range is $70K to $80K? I mean, I… Continue

Why am I a "smart recruiter"?

Because I understand that in order to play the games I like to play, drive the truck (yes - truck) I like to drive and live like I enjoying living - I must ring the cash register.

Yes - I have said it. It isn't about getting along or wanting the best for everyone!

It is about ringing the cash register.

Making the sale - sending the invoice and cashing the check.

I don't like to be told what to do - therefore - must be self employeed.

I like the finer… Continue

What makes me a Smart Recruiter

I believe the following things make me a Smart Recruiter;

1. HIGH SELF ESTEEM The glass is always half full? I believe that outcomes will be positive and are confident of success rather than to look for excuses for failure?

2. BELIEF IN WHAT WE DO¬ – Many people in the business feel we’re “putting something over” on hirers when a deal comes together. All that money for making a few phone calls. If they aren’t convinced that we’re worth what we charge, they’ll be… Continue

Chad gets some NPR (National Public Radio)

It was the day after Christmas and I found myself in front of a microphone, wearing headphones and fighting the normal pre-interview butterflies at the brand new WFYI studios, just outside of downtown Indy. Then through the headphones I hear the voice of NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday host, Liane… Continue

What are some contract/temp companies out there that partner w/ Recruiters?

I am inquiring of companies out there that partner with recruiters to work on contract jobs together. I have come across a few that will do all the payroll work on their end and the recruiter that passes them the contract/temp fill receives a cut of the weekly payout to the candidate. Would like to hear about more of these companies out there and if need to be specific to state. I am in MA. Please email me on this.

Thanks!

A simple trend for 2009 (great FREE resource to search resumes)

Over the last few years whenever I spoke to a job seeker about showing up on recruiters radar, I advised them to post their resume on a home page so recruiters, sourcers or hiring managers using search engines can find them

(Here is the post)

http://web.me.com/hydra9/Resume/Getting_your_resume_found.html

After I wrote this I found out about a free resource for both recruiters AND job seekers called Resumebucket which simply does document hosting of resumes. I have been… Continue

To Journal Or Not To Journal

DALLAS, Texas (Dec. 28, 2008) -- Journaling is a trendy sort of thing. I know people who have been doing it, religiously, for years. Others started but did not stay with it. It is like a routine of physical exercise, I guess. I know others who have started after taking a journaling class. Interesting. I did not know there was a class for something like this – teaching you to write thoughts and ideas in a book.

My interest in journaling did not come from a lofty notion that I had… Continue

What Makes Me A Smart Recruiter

I am not so convinced I am a smart recruiter because 75% of what I know has come from trial and error and 25% from listening to what others do and then make it work for me in the way I do things. Maybe the combined knowledge of messing things up and listening to smart folks makes me a smart recruiter.

Here are five reasons for my success:

- Short memory and avoiding the roller coaster. In football they say the best cornerback’s have a short memory. What they mean is… Continue

What Makes Me A Smart Recruiter

I'm curious. There is no better quality to have when you're dealing in people.

I'm curious about what people want, what they're paid, why they like and don't like their jobs, what they're willing to do to change their position in the world, what holds them back, what makes them fear change, what makes them desperate enough to create change.

I'm curious about those who stay in a job because it's the right thing to do, and those who leave because life's too short, curious… Continue

Another banking CEO's legacy

We hope to do to this industry what Wal-Mart did to theirs, Starbucks did to theirs, Costco did to theirs and Lowe’s-Home Depot did to their industry. And I think if we’ve done our job, five years from now you’re not going to call us a bank.

That's right, Kerry K. Killinger, former CEO of Washington Mutual - they'll think of you as a F-A-I-L-U-R-E.

How about a few other big-box ideas?

Cardio Depot - In aisle one we have bypasses; aisle… Continue

Little Changes On RecruitingBlogs.com

Late last night I started on a new redesign for RecruitingBlogs.com. Maren Hogan has helped with many of the logos and there is still more to come so thanks Maren.

For me it's important to keep this place fresh and this means changing the feel every once in a while. Over the next few days there will be some additional changes and sometimes it works and sometimes, it needs to go back.

If you have any feedback… Continue

Expecting Greatness in 2009--is your glass Half-Full or Half-Empty?

Expecting Greatness in 2009? Did I not get the memo on the whole recession thing?

Well, yeah. But, I've been through this before, back in 2001 and I'm hoping that I learned something from that.

There's two ways you can go in the coming year. You can buy into the whole pessimistic outlook, that we're in a recession and things are only going to get worse, we're doomed, why bother getting out of bed, etc. If you do take that mindset, you'll likely receive all that you… Continue

Wee Own Yu

In the past decade, China has invested upward of $1 trillion, mostly earnings from manufacturing exports, into American government bonds and government-backed mortgage debt. That has lowered interest rates and helped fuel a historic consumption binge and housing bubble in the United States.

China, some economists say, lulled American consumers, and their leaders, into… Continue

Recruiting...the CIA way

The Afghan chieftain looked older than his 60-odd years, and his bearded face bore the creases of a man burdened with duties as tribal patriarch and husband to four younger women. His visitor, a CIA officer, saw an opportunity, and reached into his bag for a small gift.

Four blue pills. Viagra.

"Take one of these. You'll love it," the officer said. Compliments of Uncle Sam.

The enticement worked. The officer, who described the encounter, returned four days…
