#TruLondon 7 and my second Tru experience

After taking a few days to recover from the madness that is Tru, here are my thoughts and what I took away. Once again I was not disappoint and spent 3 days in the Tru bubble where I met some really interesting people from across the global.

In an industry that isn’t always that sharing Tru is a truly a collaborative event, which over the last 3 years seems to have built a great ever evolving and maturing community which will hopefully continue to grow and welcome new people in. There…

Scott’s Thought for the Day

Salespeople are often perceived as being suave, slimy, slippery, and scary. This creates a tremendous opportunity to create a different experience for every buyer, and be more memorable as a result.

An Ode to SEO For Recruiters

If I were to SEO

What would be the way to go?

Would I blog or would I write

A mighty pen to make me bright?

Key word phrases all strung out

Makes my writing all flung out.

Search for hires

High and low

Better with my SEO

20 key words I must sell

Will you promise not to tell?

My marketing Director does insist

That all my writing should consist

Of random words

Thrown to and fro

Just so Google loves me…

5 Myths about Recruitment Marketing

Within any organization there are a number of things that you take for granted as being true in your process and strategy.  Things that in thought may not appear to be a big deal but given a second look may have a considerable impact on your overall results.  And in many cases, this is not done with intent but happens because you expect your technology and process to accurately handle these areas.  The real problem is that some organizations don’t even realize they have a problem.

How Twitter Built My Brand

Oh, c’mon! Go ahead! Take a crack at it! It’s really not that intimidating. A couple tweets here, a couple tweets there; a

few RT’s sprinkled in, several hundred #’s here, and……BAM!!! You’re a Tweetin’ machine! The first time I set up my first Twitter account, @MikeChuidian, I really didn’t know what to expect, nor did I completely understand it. I mean who…

Recruitment Training: The Rules Of Recruitment That Nobody Teaches

Recruitment training is all well and good and many recruitment managers will teach all the basic stuff like; prospecting, finding good candidates and clients and selling. These are tangible skills that all high billers are expected to embrace and master. But what about the other ‘stuff’ that few people teach? I wouldn't call them life skills and yet the truth is if you want to have a successful team of consultants who…

Why More Candidates Isn't Better

These days, HR and Recruiting professionals seem to post new jobs everywhere, from niche sites, to job board aggregators to industry-specific landing pages and of course, all the social channels like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. This can put a new or startup hiring team in a quandary. Where to come up with hefty job board fees? What if we can't afford (or don't need) the sophisticated tools that LinkedIn has to offer? Finally, the most important question of all:

Is having MORE…

Why Prizes are the Most Rewarding Employee Referral Bonus

The bonus is a central component of the employee referral program. It comes in different variations – cash and prizes/non-cash awards. In the grand scheme of planning the technical details of the actual program, the deliberations over this aspect could fall by the wayside, with companies opting for cash as the easier, no-fuss alternative. However, while a cash bonus may require less time to organize, prizes are ultimately the better motivator. Here’s why:…

Liablity or Asset- The Marissa Mayer Edict

It has been an interesting week between Marissa Mayer's clamp down on telecommuters at Yahoo and Sheryl Sandberg's pitch that women sabotage their own careers. In both arenas there seems to be a criterion missing. That criterion is how do you view your human capital in your organization - are they a liability or are they an asset? Let's look at the two events separately:

Marissa Mayer contends that in order to make Yahoo more productive she wants all human capital assets under one…
