This is a time-consuming and tiresome…

Mr. Candidate, help me help you.

You want a job.  I want an employee.  Why is it so hard for us to get together?

As an agency recruiter, life was pretty simple.  Develop some strong relationships, get some job orders, go hunting for qualified candidates.  If they were “passive”, make them “active” (heh).  Move them through the process and close the deal.  Wake up the next day and do it again.

Enter the damn Applicant Tracking System.

Keep in mind I started recruiting back when there was…

How do you Become The Best….

Six words which form what I think is one of the great un-answered questions of all time. Others have tried, come close or failed to attain the brassiest of brass rings—and that is to discover how one becomes the best!!

Is it a course or an educational module? Is it something found with style, a trendy newspaper, or the tabloids? Is it an expression? or possibly a frame of mind? Could be…any or all of the above plus other thoughts not yet expressed. Or it could be none of the above… Continue

What is your Recruitment Story?

Stories make the world go round.  It’s stories that bring us back to your favorite TV show, stories that make you buy a product and ultimately stories that make a candidate want to work for a company.  The key with stories is making sure to craft and lead with your best ones (preferably as early as possible in your recruiting process.)

That is not to say you can’t have multiple stories that provide value to your recruiting organization.  It’s just that you need to prioritize…

17 Great Answers To 17 Job Interview Questions You Don't Want To Be Asked

Great post from the business Insider

The question I have: Who comes up with these type of questions?  Is there a standard psychological/intelligence profiling procedure where these types of questions are created from or does the enterprise hire an external consultant to create a reaction based query in order to satisfy C-suite that HR is profoundly interested in the intelligence capability of the candidate?

A roast without the trimmings isn't a proper roast...

When I first stepped (or more accurately fell) into recruitment 10 years ago, the agency that employed me said they were impressed with my sales background and that is why they hired me. I thought that was odd because recruitment is all about interviewing, matching candidates to clients and helping people find a job...isn't it?

I went on their induction course and it was full of people similar to me with no recruitment experience that had worked in telesales or had…

A Formal Hello & Thank You

Hello RBC –

I wanted to just take a quick moment to offer a hello to everyone. It has been quite hectic since last week as you can all imagine, but I really wanted to express my sincere appreciation for all the kind words and feedback both Noel and I received. I wanted to also take a moment to thank Jason. His time and insights since the beginning of this process have been…

Two killer questions great recruiters ask every time

If you have plans to be a great recruiter, please, remember this and never forget it.

Filling a job does not start with finding good candidates for a particular job order. It starts with the quality with which you take the job order in the first place. It does not matter if you take the brief face to face (and you should, if at all possible), or over the phone. Filling the order starts with how well you qualify that order.

You have to make sure, at the very…

Its Cheesy - But it home for me today!

Are you motivated to achieve what you really want in life? And how hard do you push yourself to get things done?

Wanting to do something and motivating yourself to actually do it are two different things. So, what's the difference between those who never reach their goals, year after year, and those who achieve one goal after another? Often, it's their… Continue
