Trainers that also run a desk

I would be interested to know which trainers or individuals giving webinars, seminars, etc. actually run a desk. Also how many placements have they made in the last couple of years. I am not counting managers running a team of hot shots making the placements but those that have made placements themselves thus training people appropriately with their proven methods.

Regards,

Chris

Bicultural Executives Have an Edge

The term globalization has been thrown around for decades but it has never applied as much as it has in recent years as organizations become more focused and specialized within a specific industry or product, and reach beyond their traditional regions of business. Globalization has evolved from being a commercial exchange to a multifaceted integration of many aspects of the business. This trend has created a need for strong leaders who can manage…

Fantasy Football and Recruiting – A marriage made on the cyber gridiron?

I have some wild ideas about how to attract and source for applicants. After all, I have been in the “Internet Recruiting” space since 2000 and have watched applicant traffic come from places you’d never imagine. So today, Toby Noding and I went out on a live presentation and the first thing we got to talking about with a Senior Director of Global Staffing was fantasy football. He mentioned that he picked up a guy named…

The Keg Has Run Dry? Tips for Job Hunting After College

This is a true story inspired by real events.....

I was talking to my younger sister last night. She just recently graduated with her Master's in English and she's been pounding the "pavement" - aka job boards - looking for work as a Teacher, Substitute Teacher, TA, etc. at the university…

Social media, recruiting, and job boards: which way are we going?

If you follow my Twitter stream, you no doubt noticed I spent last week at #truManchester. It was a great experience – I listened to many recruiters and HR pros talk about how they use social media in their recruiting (or hope to), and what they think about job boards. (I also learned that the British have switches on their power outlets, are extremely hospitable, and don’t open their pubs until noon).

A few observations:

  • Company attempts to outlaw or…

Recruiting: It's More than Just Showing Up

In the current economic state that our country (and others around the world) is facing with the recession, the unemployment rate is sky-high despite the efforts of many. What we’re beginning to see is the light at the end of the tunnel, with companies starting to hire again, actively recruiting in their communities.…

Reaching your Recruiting Apex: What it will take to succeed in Life and Business

This was the sign that greeted me on July 1st, 2010, as I reached one the crown jewels of my vacation. I was headed to a family reunion, that would propel me through Yosemite, and onward to Lake Tahoe. It was in Yosemite I had a chance to remember when as a young man, of 10, that visit that had changed my life. I had at that time had the privilege of a Memorial Day weekend trip with my family. On this day, I was on a journey to greet my wife…

Recruitment interacting with HR - response to Recruitment International

Why do recruiters not interact with HR more?

By interact, I mean outside of the recruitment process. As David Head of Recruitment International raised in his September issue, why, for example, does the CIPD conference have not one recruiter on the speakers list? Strange seeing as recruitment (including succession planning, employee relations etc) makes up a large part of their role.

This…

Looking for some Recruiters to help out

I have a new site http://www.thejobroute.com.

We started off trying to answer the question "what can I be when I grow up?" and quickly moved into "How do I change my career?" We came up with a solution and put it into play.

The concept is simple. take 10 million resume's, explode them into milestones (I was a dishwasher, then I was a salesman, and then I was a senior salesman, now I am a CEO) and put this progression into a massive… Continue

What Einstein Can Teach Us about Recruiting

I know that sometimes it feels like we are all moving at the speed of light while dealing with massive amounts of info and expending a great deal of energy. We have requisitions needing attention, candidates wanting updates and upper management looking for better talent and quicker results while spending less. But Einstein’s famous formula E=mc2 is not what I am referring to.…

They are just not that into you

I had coffee last week with a candidate who was really frustrated because he had applied for lots of positions and not been contacted.

I asked him to tell me about one of them. “Well, it was a mechanical engineering position in a manufacturing company.”

“What were they looking for?” I asked.

“An engineering degree and 5 years of design experience in a plastics manufacturing environment. It was perfect for me. It’s exactly the kind of company I want to work for.… Continue
