From Chuck Hudgins' Blog:

Over the course of the last few posts, I have fleshed out what I take to be the important aspects/core concepts of cloud recruiting. Two of the main points were:
Making use of social networking technology (using the same technology that makes up the cloud to connect others to the cloud)
Understanding that, in order to harness the power of free and apply… Continue

It is obvious that there are companies out there that adapt so well to the ever changing environments. Some companies have a culture where adapting to technology almost comes as second nature. Yet there are other companies refusing to accept what is changing around them. The big question is.... How does a company cope with changing its culture?
My company is strong in being ahead of the curve when it comes to products and services. LexisNexis was the first to create legal research…

RecruiterGuy has been on all three sides of the recruiting process. Three sides? Sure, I’ve been a third party recruiter, a corporate recruiting manager, and a candidate.
Today we are discussing the use of third party recruiters as a sourcing and recruiting partner. Wait! Stop rolling your eyes! Remember I’ve been on both sides of the desk. Currently as a contract recruitment consultant often I am on both sides in the same company.
Why would you want to include contingent,…

I used to work with this guy that would leave early on Fridays. He was a complete slacker. While the rest of us busted our humps to get resumes to clients, he’d belly up to the bar across the street. His excuse? Kids! And, he had a gaggle of them too.
Businesses lose $1.4 Billion Dollars annually to employee absenteeism due to childcare problems.
Now that I have a kid and one on the way, I get a free hall pass. Woohoo!
But, what about you buddy? You…

A couple of weeks ago I was reminded about Hans Rosling and his bubble chart that animates itself. As charts go, it's pretty fun to watch. So I asked myself last weekend if I could try the chart out on some recruiting metrics just to see how it would look.
Much to the chagrin of my kids on a sunny summer day, I tested two different kinds of animated bubble charts. The first from a software company, and then the Google Bubble chart tool.
Turns out that creating an animated…

When we hear about a company hiring a recruiter; someone who would hire or employ people for job openings in your business, the right man for the job would be one with an intellect, who knows how to deal with people, is familiar with your company's demands and how your business works ie. your business' budget, work environment, company culture, department need, has salesmanship and negotiating skills and most of all, is resourceful.
Whether or not you need to 'hire' a man of such…

One common complaint many consultants have is that some sections of the client’s team is not able to provide enough time or resources that are critical to the success of the assignment. This happens for a number of reasons, the more serious ones stemming from resistance to an outsider’s involvement in a company’s affairs and absence of the ‘brownie point’ system of work (as the consultant neither appraises or is appraised by anyone in the organization he or she is dissociated from one of the…

Staying fluid to the changing times is as necessary as the air you breathe to support your life. Change is constant. Application Tracking System (ATS) has successfully replaced a Business' filing cabinet (full of prospective candidate applications for jobs in your business) by having spread its wings all over the internet. The system brings in more applications and helps you sort them out in less time, with less of your effort put in and hence, less cost per hire considering you haven't hired a recruiter to run the job for you.
An ATS allows your business to post jobs on a job board; a career site of…

Maren Hogan, never met her, but I know she likes Cheeseburgers. So much so she tweeted about it once.
That day I ate a big fat greasy Cheeseburger.
Recruiters should be Tweeting jobs every day.

This isn’t rocket science or extensive research. Tweet your…

Saying that the job market has changed is an understatement. Everyday we talk to people who have come up short using the tried and true methods of ten years ago. Meanwhile success stories continue to emerge about people tweeting their way to their dream job or being discovered on their blog. I had a bad experience last week. A bad experience which quickly rebounded into a good one, I am happy to say.
It was Friday 6 pm. I was rushing to wrap up things at work. Last minute emails to complete. A call from our Director in China with a client issue. A Skype call from our Europe MD. And then my wife on the phone saying don’t forget to pick up the kids.
I race down the elevator to the under-building car park, juggling laptop, gym gear, mobile phone and security…
