Here is our weekly feature in which we share the top articles we enjoyed from the past week about recruitment marketing. This week we’ll be talking about UPS hiring through social media, one thing that we could change about HR, knowing what type of employees you are looking for, mobile recruiting and the importance of influence.

You’ve asked all of them on your mind. The questions. Those incomplete thoughts or flashes of brilliance that you feel needs some sort of vindication that your opinion is valid. Those things burrowing into the dark places of the mind that prevent you from moving on rationally. What if I appear ridiculous? What if my lack of knowledge shows through? Am I that much of a know-it-all?, I know we covered this topic 1000 times, yet for some reason I just don’t understand. These are all thoughts…

In a recent blog post, we reported on an article by The Kansas City Star that discussed the trend of hiring workers on a contract basis to complete projects, a practice the article referred to as "adhocracy." As many of the recruiters we work with can attest, this trend is very real. And for some, it lead to their first contract…

Hiring freeze. Those two words can stop recruiters dead in their tracks. After all, if a client says they are unable to hire, where does that leave you? It's the one client excuse that there is no easy argument against.
Or is there? Several of the recruiters we work with have discovered another word that can immediately melt the ice on a deep hiring freeze . . .contracting! In fact, for many, hiring freezes lead them to their first contract placements.
Hiring managers are…

Not only is contracting becoming more popular, it is also becoming more lucrative for contractors.

True story. A recruiter at Agile was working with a candidate for a position at a client company. It was a terrific opportunity, and the candidate – let’s call him Chuck (not his real name) – wanted the job. Chuck had been unemployed for several months, so it’s only normal that he was anxious about closing the deal. The process was taking longer than he had anticipated, partly because the hiring manager was on the fence about Chuck.…

So the media cannot wait to tell us that unemployment is up again.
Does the British public really thrive on doom and gloom? Is it the only way to sell news papers? I really hope not.
Those of you that know my work will be aware of how I feel on the subject and that I do my best to compensate for the media with positive blogs about the economy, our society and employment.
So here it is, the five things you didn’t know about…

On a post I did last week, Don’t Hide your Company Culture, Flaunt It!, I received some interesting comments & discussion on where candidates actually go when researching a company to get a feel for how it would be to work there. Do they go to the company’s Career Site? Do they search on Twitter? Do they reach out to an employee on LinkedIn? Do they look the company up on…

Are you a job seeker that has been unemployed for long periods of time? Well, sit down my friend because you are not alone. In fact, 40% of the unemployed have been out of work for more than six months. Searching for a job is tough these days, especially when you have been out of your niche for quite some time. It’s not the end though.…

I guess the good news about drug use is that cocaine usage has declined in the past couple of years. In fact, cocaine usage has declined some twenty nine percent. Only about one third of one percent of the population uses cocaine, or so the story goes.
Now for the other news...heroin use has increased. The federal government applied tighter stands to drug test as part of the employment screening. There were testing people in such occupations as pilots, airplane mechanics, and…

A fresh look, and a new perspective, a new dawning and renewal of continuous zest for life, and an eye on the goal in all scenarios. There is no secret that life adds a great twist and turn when we least expect it. But each new day is like a gift. Mistakes made yesterday can be made a new perspective of. They can be buried in the wide swath of the past. Brilliance is not a sometime thing, it is an everytime thing.
As I arrived home from work this day, I thought how…

I am currently doing some market research for one of the Portal Applications I am currently working on and needed to pick your minds from a Marketing perspective. Any thoughts, questions would be welcomed. I am tied to a Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA) and I can’t get into too much detail. Here goes..:

If you pay attention to some commentators on recruiting and human capital management, we’re at war. No, I don’t mean the one in Afghanistan, or even the one against terror. I mean the War for Talent.
I s there anyone out there who, with me, sees this metaphor as tired and tastelessly inaccurate in today’s world, not to mention downright silly and…
