Well, August is upon us. Time for family vacations, time spent on the beach, bbq’s, school shopping for the kids, last minute house-cleaning before Labor Day and all those projects at home and at work that keep piling up. No time for vacation you say? Well, how about we plan a vacation at your office?
Whether it’s your home office or one that overlooks the ocean, everyone needs time to regroup, refresh and renew in order to get prepared for the next season. Some of us feel in order…

If you see a faded sign by the side of the road that says 15 miles to….
Radio Shack! They have a great online store for gamers.
I have a real serious problem with companies that don’t have some type of employee referral bonus program. It’s like being asked over for dinner and having to bring the food.
So if you are one of the unfortunate recruiters stuck without an employee referral bonus program, here…

It's true. I am Sarah White, P.I.M.P, C.I.R, A.I.R.S, B.A and every other thing that ever came along that I can tag onto the end of my name. Over the last few weeks there have been some lengthy discussions amongst my tweeple (those are my people on twitter) about the value of certifications in our industry. I have also gotten calls from people asking me to discuss new certifications they are coming up with. Apparently, now that I have a blog, some…

Do you paper your deal with a written split agreement or do you rely upon the recruiters' Code?

Does it really take that much time to write out a job description? There are many jobs available in this recession, yet many recruiters are not investing the time to craft a strong message and detail the skills that they are seeking. How are they explaining the opportunities adequately to the candidate pool so that they aren't wasting their time?

The changing demographics of our country have been making headlines. As the population ages and baby boomers begin to retire, labor shortages seem imminent and in some cases, potentially catastrophic. Most of the forecasts focus on a dwindling pool of applicants for entry level positions. However, leading edge health care organizations also have to be able to replace key leaders with little interruption to the business.
A number of hospitals and health networks are turning to…

Whew – you’ve reviewed the applicant list and you have narrowed it down to the cream of the crop. The next step is to send the information to the hiring manager(s) for review.
Do you:
- Manually compile the applicant data, and send the information to the hiring manager via fax or email
- Call or email the manager to request their feedback on who to proceed with
- Try to decipher the hiring managers feedback and if necessary follow up for more info
- Participate in…

You know your job board or career site isn’t perfect, right? (And if you don’t, I’m sure you can find someone that will tell you that). In fact, perfection can be pretty annoying, particularly when it manifests itself as a ‘rule’ or ‘mandate’.
But…perfection has its place. Let me explain.
A job board (or honestly, any decent web site) is never ‘done’. It’s always a work in progress. You add that job seeker forum you always wanted – and now you need a Twitter feed. But what…

It certainly has been a while since I've done any active posting, and while I've enjoyed taking in some of the posts and discussions as a lurker figured it is about time I put something out there of my own again.
Over the past couple of months there have been a couple of big wins and some equally disappointing mishaps. Oddly enough, I find myself crediting and blaming the same thing in both instances...the process. My recruiting team has a very well-defined process by which a manager…

The term ‘social recruiting’ is soooooo hot right now. It’s on the lips of recruitment commentators, consultants, recruiters, and vendors. There is even a global wave of conferences and seminars on the topic.
So what does social recruiting mean? Well, from my observations, it…

I have some indelible memories, like when my daughter was born and the day I got Google Voice. The Sun broke through dark clouds and I was totally like thank you Jesus! Finally, I can make free VOIP calls anywhere in the U.S with free SMS messaging!
Queue the Gary Wright’s “Dream Weaver” and slip away from away from all this high unemployment shouting, “I have Google Voice! I have Google Voice!”

It's funny, people are always asking me about what I see inside my crystal ball, where are things headed in the market or what's hot? They seem to be intersted in the newest tricks, places to go on the web, social networks and how to find the best talent. My first thought is usually that before you do anything new you have to first look at all the tricks and tools you already have.
The truth is that I really don't have anything new to tell people about. Most of my thoughts and…
