Staffing Karma - A Reality of Recruiting Professionalism

They say "what goes around comes around" and I suppose this is a universal truth.  This blog post has been on my mind for sometime, with much to think on and put forth.

The reality of every interaction is this, we are blessed by what we put in, and what we get back.  Nothing more was readily apparent in this past week than this…

The Other Re-Recruiting

Have you heard of this term –re-recruiting? It’s becoming quite popular lately for several reasons. I was reading this article from Jim Stodgill the other day, it is really good - make sure you bookmark it and read it. I came across this statement and had to take a beat:

US Jobs Report Falls Below Expectations, Adding Just 113,000 Jobs in January

The BLS also released updated November and December data, with 34,000 more jobs in these months then were…

Jobs for resumes or Resumes for jobs?

It’s the knack of closing more jobs in less time that lands you here in Recruitment. Technology has gone by far with Industry standards to make your work a lot easier then it used to be. So here’s the thing; either match resumes to job advertised or vice versa. This really seems to be an interesting preposition as more can be done in lesser time, but…

How to Identify Great Contract Candidates

As contract staffing becomes a long-term business strategy in many organizations, companies are increasingly turning to recruiters to find the best contract candidates. But what does the best contract candidate look like?

If you're a hottie then your video interview can be this bad if you're looking for sales jobs like her...guys included I guess

Maybe sometimes standing out in an interview isn't always the best thing.  But as every recruiter already knows, sometimes it's the worst of times that provide the most memorable - and funny - moments in an otherwise often dull daily professional existence.  And this one will crack you up.

Would you hire her?

If the answer is yes, go for it - she's probably still looking for a job.  Proof that in interviews, there are no stupid questions, but there are plenty of stupid…

Ditch the Double Standard

The good news: for at least a few people I’ve spoken with recently, the job market seems a bit warmer so far this year than it has been in quite a while. Let’s hope so!

The bad news: applying and interviewing for jobs is just as cumbersome as ever.

The ugly news: many employers must have missed the memo about candidates actually caring how…

The Candidate Experience

I've been a recruiter for a LONG time - long enough to have built relationships that have lasted beyond the decade mark. Despite the years of REALLY dedicating myself to knowing my candidates, and understanding what's important to them etc., I find myself haunted by the new catch phrase - "Candidate Experience".

Best or Beloved?

There’s a love affair going on and it’s wrecking relationships. No, I’m not referring to the extracurricular personal activities in workplaces around the globe; I am calling out the leaders and staff who are smitten with supposed best practices that are anything but.

All too often things keep being done the same way because that’s how they’ve always been done. In other cases, people are using a method because they were told this is how most…
