I had the great fortune of sitting down recently with Shaunda Zilich, who is the Global Employment Brand Leader at GE. GE has been the name on everybody’s lips lately, for their amazing series of “Owen” videos that have turned the traditionally industrial brand on its head. With nary a work boot in sight, the young, passionate, and tech-oriented Owen is completely jazzed about his work at GE, helping to develop the software and…Continue

Transfer of business doesn’t necessarily need to be a chaotic time, but it often will be. Big changes often inspire big reactions, and your employees are only human if their reactions are showing through. Hiring a technical executive is as much about building institutional knowledge as it is finding a leader who will smoothly integrate with the current executive team. We all know how hard it can be for smaller businesses to hire tech superstars. Giants like Amazon, Google, and Apple benefit from deep pockets and prestige, but competing against the tech behemoths isn’t the only stumbling block. Many companies seeking to enhance the expertise available in the C-Suite have…Continue

Last week I read Ina Jaffe's article and this powerful article, which was hard to believe, revealed to me how age discrimination is real. For example, there is a collective lawsuit against the company which hired 1,000 people of which only 19 were older than 40. Also, research shows that résumés which include older birth data get fewer responses.
Since I am a…Continue

Mention KPI’s to a lot of recruiters and you get an instant negative reaction. As explained in the book “The Chimp Paradox” by Steve Peters, the brain gets infected by bad experiences, so if a recruiter has been “beaten with a stick” over KPI’s it’s natural their view of them will remain negative and they’ll reject the concept of KPI’s being a good thing.
KPI’s used well are an amazing tool to plan and deliver success, highlight development areas and grow recruiters into business…Continue
