The long-standing stereotype of the HR professional has been that he or she is more a ‘people person’ than a ‘numbers person,’ one who shies away from hard data, science and math. While this is somewhat understandable given that ‘human’ is embedded within the very job title itself, it is by long stretches an unfair…

Research carried out by Investors in People revealed the following:-
- A 10% rise in employees looking for a move.
- An increase of 5.85% in employees who believe the job market has improved.
- A 4% drop in employees who are happy with their current job.

The man in the phone, Charlie Townsend, isn’t your ideal supervisor. He only ever calls his angels – his team – when there is a problem or when he needs something done. On the other hand, there is something recruiters can learn from this mysterious enigmatic man. Charlie knows his angels, he talks with them, but he never sees them face-to-face. Recruiters,…

Dr. Tony Alessandra, the author of the book “The Platinum Rule” , suggests that the purpose of all businesses is to acquire and maintain customers. So how do we, as Tony suggests, acquire and maintain customers? We do so by listening to the voice of the customer as it relates to how we do business.
To begin with let me clarify what we mean by the term customer. Whether it is an internal customer in the…

As a marketer in a recruiters world, I clearly have a different perspective on this whole "candidate experience" thing. I'm less worried about getting people in the door and wondering how the hell you even got anyone to apply after those awful reviews. (Do you seriously have dry holiday parties? Forget it.)
The thing is, recruiters don't usually think about reviews and the candidates…

Judging whether the candidate is the right one for the job can be a tedious task for recruiters unlike other job profiles. The job demands patients…

It’s a fact. Not every available job opportunity is advertised. That can obviously make looking for the perfect role even more difficult however it does provide you with the chance to showcase your networking and investigative skills. Better still, don’t wait for a job opening to apply for it, you may find yourself more successful if you apply for a position before it…

In my line of work I am on social media....a lot and I come across many insightful articles written by well-intentioned people with tips for helping job seekers find meaningful employment. Interestingly, most of the articles I see seem to be tailored to the external job market. This got me thinking, what about helping those already inside my own backyard? Part of my responsibility as a Corporate Recruiter is helping existing talent grow their careers within the company and retain the …

Car fanatic or not, there is a lot to like about a Teslaand how this electric vehicle is a model for better business. Acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.1 seconds, which the Model S can now achieve, is the kind of rapid velocity staffing and recruitment customers can experience when firms shift from reactive to active recruiting. Most buyers need that talented person yesterday, so speeding that…

Everywhere I go these days, I either see people with their noses buried in their phones, or I’m reading articles about how people have their noses buried in their phones.
We are nearly incapable of functioning without being in constant contact, and feel crippled when we can’t connect.
So what are you doing to help your users get mobile with recruiting? If you are evaluating a recruiting solution, what mobile capabilities should you be looking…

"Big data" seems to be taking over the business world. Companies are collecting more pieces of information, and being able to manage, analyze, and develop strategies from all the incoming data. If analytics are your gizmos, and problem solving is your putty; you may already be considering a career in research. The obvious road to go down is a master’s degree in your specific field of study, and that wouldn’t necessarily be the wrong choice. Still, why wait any longer? You’ll never get a second chance to make a good first impression. When it comes to getting a job, you might think that means mastering your handshake, or perfecting your body language for an interview - but all that is fruitless without a first-class CV. Your resume is what’s going to get you a foot in the door, and with masses…
